Description
I photographed this scene of the Peru Vermont Village Green and First Congregational Church during the latter stages of the autumn season. It was an unplanned quick jaunt from my location in NW Connecticut to explore parts of southcentral Vermont.
The weather was cool and brisk all day, turning abruptly chilly as the day wore on. I eventually found myself in Peru VT. with its quaint village green and lovely old church. The dark storm clouds eventually closed in over Peru, and I was excited to experience my very first snowflakes of the year as a quick snow squall moved in.
The flakes could be heard as they landed on the crunchy foliage on the ground. The snow would begin to stick quickly, but my favorite image I made was this one. The sunlight had poked through the clouds, creating a dramatic contrast rendering the clouds even darker against the white church.
As they always say about New England, if you don't like the weather "Wait a minute, It will change".

I had just marveled at another picturesque image in your Vermont collection Thom, and how you have a knack for capturing such moody and dramatic skies and light. I see this seems to be a new addition to your gallery. Lovely!

A dream of a shot ... can't tell you how much I enjoyed reading your narrative of your morning, too. My favorite kind of light ... brilliant, slanty with a broody sky on the other side. How many times have I driven around like a mad-woman trying to find something interesting to put under that sky and in that light!!! You did it!!! Absolutely fabulous!!!! lf p
