Description
The northwest corner of Connecticut holds many delightful scenic surprises. The region is well known as the Litchfield Hills, which are actually the southernmost mountains of the Berkshire Range.
For this scene, the wide and handsome Housatonic River is captured as it flows under the popular West Cornwall Covered Bridge during the early phase of the autumn foliage season.

**Announcement on the Covered bridge** Hurrican Irene did not cause any structural damage to the West Cornwall Covered bridge. The road that runs parallel to the Housatonic, River Rd., did suffer extensive damage and washout.
