Description
Wonderful rustic details of an abandoned historic New England grist mill are preserved in a fairytale-like setting. Soft ethereal water flows over the dam as the muted tones of late autumn linger.
This mill, which is quite secluded from the public's eye, has it's place in the Revolutionary past of Connecticut's storied history. Iron Ore was being mined from the swamps dating back to the 1700's, products went into agriculture and the pre- American dawn of commercial production. By the revolutionary war, most of the mills had been tooled to develop firearms. This particular mill saw duty as a stamping mill.
Thomas' skills for capturing the essence of New England were called upon to forever preserve the scenic beauty of this charming rustic treasure. He was invited upon the private estate to familiarize himself, study the lighting and feel the mood of the place. What you see here is one of two compositions that happen to be best sellers for Tom.
He's made this print available in assorted sizes right here up to 36 x 23.75"
