Description
The Maroon Bells are an American icon, certainly, one of the most spectacular sights to behold not only in North America but the entire planet. The scene is world-class. This photo session evolved from only my second visit to the shores of this Zen pond. I was rewarded with a transcendental experience, magical light softly illuminating the monolithic peaks and an eerie stillness I knew I had to capture before the fleeting moment would pass!
I was able to capture not just one, but TWO beautiful shots in full color that capture the full spectrum and spirit of the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness. This image is the Open Edition vertical version, the second version is a LIMITED EDITION horizontal that is only available to purchase directly from Thom from his personal web gallery.

Great shot of this icon. They've now fenced the lake off so this shot is no longer possible to make!

THX Tom. Goodness sakes alive, fenced in the lake! LOL, we may be forced to cut holes in the fence like photogs have done from the Manhattan Bridge walkway looking towards Brooklyn Bridge and the skyline

Congratulations on winning the All Colorado June Logo Contest. You've captured an unusual light here! Gorgeous color! Very nice work! F/L
Photos by Thom replied:
Thanks, Diane. I was already on location at 4:40 am with fingers crossed tightly that I would experience unique lighting. I caught (2) great images, the first one vertical. That one had great color in the clouds. In all of 12 seconds the light vanished from the clouds but was still amazing on the high peaks.
