Description

The Smoky Mountain region of North Carolina and Tennessee is a wonderfully diverse natural environment. The deep verdant forest just seem to explode in luminous emerald greens and ethereal mist. I was so excited to have the opportunity to capture the essence of such mystical presence within this Eco-system along the banks of the scenic Oconaluftee River. I had been patiently waiting for a raging summer thunderstorm to ease up, the forest soaking up the vast rainfall and exhaling a beautiful transparent fog in it's wake. I set up my gear, straddling slippery moss covered rocks and composing for a rare downstream view that allowed the canopy of forest to envelop the flowing stream.

The light of day was waning, making long timed exposures necessary. This only seemed to enhance the meditative state of tranquility in the image that resulted.
