Description
Blood red skies dominate at sunset viewing the layers of mountains from Morton's Overlook along the Newfound Gap Rd, Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
I had the opportunity to photograph this scene after a late-day thunderstorm rolled through the park. The smoky skies the National Park is known for are a natural occurrence. This fog is caused by the vegetation exhaling volatile organic compounds, chemicals that have a high vapor pressure, and easily form vapors at normal temperature and pressure.
