Description
New Hampshire's White Mountain National Forest is a land of subtle beauty. Within its nooks and crannies, the towering granite mountains hold many secrets which they reveal to those with a passion and reverence for nature. The perfectly still waters on the serene Red Eagle pond made for stunning reflections of the brilliant autumn foliage display.
When I came upon this picturesque setting the tranquility and peacefulness had a grip on me. Looking across at the opposite shore of the pond the riot of fall color was all too obvious. I was not however seeking the obvious. I was looking to capture the very spirit and essence of this beautiful location. The tranquil surface of the pond was as smooth as a mirror soaking in the mosaic of colors from the forest surrounding me.

Wonderful capture, especially with the lily pads at the bottom of the photo. Instead of the water just running off, the pads give it a little more depth as I can see the stem of one of them in the water.

Thanks Kathleen. I really felt the same as your words suggest, the Lily pads really provided depth and importantly a place for the eye to "bounce" off while exploring the scene.
