Description
As if the dramatic rugged peaks of the Maroon Bells towering over Maroon Lake are not spectacular enough, an impending thunderous ovation by mother nature herself made my first ever visit to the Snowmass Wilderness quite memorable.
Initially the purpose of this visit was to scout locations along the shore of the beautiful lake, gaging the best opportunity to record reflections for a future sunrise. Upon arrival, the skies were overcast and the lighting unattractive. We calmly strode the shoreline, continuously appraising the many possibilities and angles. Not thinking seriously about executing a photo session I paid little attention to the quickly changing weather. A mid layer of fog rapidly developed and hugged the shoulders of the mountains. Then the rumble of thunder was heard. The overcast skies just 15 minutes ago suddenly became ominous, and knew it was time to try and capture the event. We had drama!
The lighting was perfect for a great B&W image. Before the heavy rain began to fall I managed to capture half a dozen images. I chose this one as the underside of the storm clouds had the most texture.
This print is available in several mediums of display for immediate purchase, in sizes ranging from 12 x 8.5" up to an impressive 60 x 41.75"
