Description
This is the beautiful A.M. Fosters Covered Bridge of Cabot Vermont. Although not a historical structure, the bridge is a replica of the 1890 Orton Covered bridge of Marshfield VT and a boyhood dream of one Richard Spaulding.
As the story is told, Spaulding as a child would rush up to Cabot Plains with the family to watch the sunset over the Green Mountains. The pasture land belonged to his grandparents, and later in life he would aquire much of the land himself.
A natural ravine sliced the landscape, and the vision entered his head about constructing a wood covered bridge over the ravine. A hidden underground stream was opened up, allowing the ravine to become a pond and thus a scenic vista had been created.
Today the bridge represents a dream come true and stands as a scenic Vermont icon. A rural landscape that captures all the elements that make Vermont world renouned for what it is.
We've made this beautiful Green Mountain sunset print available in sizes up to 48 x 32"
