Description
My history with this old farm in South Kent Connecticut dates back to the late 1970s. My parents became friends with an iconic local dairy farmer man named Robin Stack, husband and homesteader from New Milford. His wife Glenys was the daughter of the Burnett's that had a homestead in the South Kent region of the Litchfield Hills. Robin would continue to work the Burnett's land until it sold to new private owners in the '80's.
I had the opportunity to help Robin work the homestead, driving a hayrake and flatbed to retrieve bails of hay. My artistic inspiration for scenic landscapes began during my time helping Robin work the land here and I would sketch scenes as I remembered them once I returned home.
My favorite time to visit here and slowly drive by is mid to late summer because thats when we worked the fields. The humid muggy days bring back memories. The prettiest time to visit however is autumn, especially just before sunset!
