My earliest days of photography and studying the photographic works of Eliot Porter has taught me to keep my eyes open for intimate landscapes in nature. His style was very influential to my own personal photographic style back in the day. He was not as iconic of a name as was Ansel Adams, but that never mattered to me.
I spotted this fallen bright crimson Maple leaf on a White Birch log several yards off the hiking trail. The vivid red leaf and whitebark work so well together, humans are naturally drawn to the color red as its the rarest color in nature.
