During my exploration and navigations to find suitable places to photograph, I'll find myself becoming so immersed in my work it's like time stands still. It's a wonderful feeling, a Zen like state that takes over your consciousness. When this happens, my senses are heightened and I begin to see the landscape within the greater landscape.
I had experienced such a moment while walking the shoreline of a remote New England pond. The pond surface was amazingly still and I spotted several fallen leaves floating ever so gently as if they were suspended. Noting the conditions of the weather, most of the day had been overcast with intermittent rain however I was noticing some color to the west and slight breaks in the clouds.
Being patient, I photographed several other scenes but always mindful to the quality of light. Eventually the low angle of the sun found it's way beneath the clouds and briefly illuminated the sky with hues of pink and orange. I had just a few minutes...
