Description
As an artist and fine art photographer, the autumn season in New England allows me to step out and be more creative. I seek more intimate landscapes, find scenes where shadows and light find room to play and compose imagery that captures the essence of sensation, mood, details and the flow of energy.
One of my favorite places to do so is along the gorgeous Swift River in New Hampshire's White Mountain region. I don't set out to follow the hoards of tourist, rather I find my secret spots along the river where no one else dares to wander. When you expose a camera sensor to very long timed shutter speeds, the natural flow of things creates beautifully abstract forms and shapes. I'm careful to look for elements that are reflected in the water from the opposite riverbank and how they affect the scene I'm creating.
I use the river rocks as graphic balance, it gives a dimension to the imagery that you can touch and even imagine touching it. In essence, its a form of eco-art therapy.
