Timing is so critical with landscape photography. So the story goes, we stayed several nights with friends at their cabin just over the Vermont border into New York. They are just a brief ride up the mountain and into Rupert. How convenient is that?
I just photographed a wonderful thick blanket of fog over a valley a short drive away (barely visible here top left beyond the ridgeline) and was searching for more scenes to take advantage of the atmospheric conditions before the sun was too high in the sky. The dirt roads are a bit rough so it's a slow go at best. Looking off to my left which was west of me, I was barely able to make out a handsome New England barn with twin silos.
Disappointed at first, the barn was just too concealed behind the fog. I decided to wait this out to see if the conditions would improve. Sure enough, the rapidly moving fog bands had opened just enough to get a clear shot at the barn. I was able to make about 6 exposures in less than a minu...
